The Rocky Mountain Koi Show is less than a month away and we are excited to provide an update on all that is happening this year at the show. As a club, we value the hard work and skill it take to raise koi and the Koi Show is a way to share our passion with the public. We encourage all members of the club to participate in the Koi Show and it is open to all members of the club. If you are interested in becoming an exhibitor, check out 2023 Rocky Mountain Koi Show Exhibitor Packet and reserve a tank today!
The show is open to the public Saturday and Sunday and is a great way to share your love of koi with family, friends, and neighbors. The show hours are
Saturday 10am - 5pm
Sunday 10am - 1pm
The show has something for everyone. We will have lots of amazing koi for you to walk around and see - the koi come from our own club member’s pond. We are planning on 30 exhibit tanks, that means there will be over a hundred koi for you to see and enjoy. Along with the koi, we will have tons of educational information about koi all around the main exhibit hall. You will be able to learn facts about koi that will surprise you!
We also have vendors attending the show - including 3 wet vendors who will be selling koi. Mike from Professional Ponds, Kijikawa, Tony from PolyTank, and W Lim from 5280 will have the latest in koi products for you to check out. RNR Koi, Kodama Koi Farm, and Children of the Sun (COTS) will all be bringing koi to the show for you to purchase. These koi will range in size, breed, and price and will be available through out the show OR until they are all sold.
We also have Dr. Sanders and Dr. Koi with us at the show - both are excited to share their knowledge and expertise on koi keeping with you. Dr. Sanders, author of How to kill you Koi will be doing a presentation for the public on Saturday afternoon. If that is no enough, we also have Colby, our youngest vendor, providing an array of koi themed products that will surely become keepsakes.
As if all that was not enough, we are pleased to announce that we have traditional Highland Japanese musicians performing at the show from 11am to noon on Saturday.
On Sunday, we will have an opportunity to hear from the Koi Show judges, Michelle Gravenish and Katy Shanafelt as they go through the "judges review" for all the koi. Come learn about the different elements of showing a koi and how they determine the winners for this year's show.
Don't forget - at the end of the show, we will have our koi auction. This is a great way to bid on one of the breeder's choice. We also will be announcing the winners of the silent auction. Proceeds for the auctions will benefit the club.
Make sure to have this weekend marked on your calendars to attend the Rocky Mountain Koi Show at the Douglas County Fairgrounds on September 23-24. It promises to have something for everyone and don’t forget to vote for your favorite koi! Be sure to share with your friends and neighbors the details and remember - its open and FREE to the public and all are welcome!
